Fonds consists of a handwritten diary kept by Lieutenant Selwyn Wilson, covering his period of service with the 13th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery (C.F.A.), 17 June 1916 - 31 January 1919. The diary records various engagements, the unit's movements along the front, changes in personnel and other details. Also a printed diary covering the 13th Battery, C.F.A., 1914-1919.

Wilson, Selwyn, 1894-1963 : Selwyn Wilson, born in 1894 at Buckingham, Que., left Canada for service overseas with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in June of 1916. After undergoing gunnery training in England, he was despatched to the Western Front and, in November, assigned to the 13th Battery, Canadian Field Artillery. He served with the same unit until the end of the war, at which time, in early 1919, he was discharged. His unit saw heavy fighting, especially from mid-1918 on, at Amiens, Bourlon Wood and in other engagements.

When he returned to Canada he studied engineering at McGill University, graduated and worked in the pulp and paper industry until the early 1940s. During the war, he worked with the Ottawa Car and Aircraft Company in Ottawa.
