Fonds consists of a personal diary, 1917; correspondence 1917, 1967-1981; newsletters, and roster, 1958, 1970-1979.

The fonds also contains photographs of personnel of No. 2 Squadron, R.N.A.S., standing around shell crater, Dunkirk, France, ca. June 1917; and three men standing outside Canada Customs office on the Canada-U.S. border, ca. 1925.

Anderson, William Stuart, 1894-1979 : William Stuart Anderson was born and educated in Winnipeg, Man. Upon the outbreak of the World War I he joined the Canadian Army and after completing his officers' training course, qualified for a commission as lieutenant in early 1915. By the fall of 1915 Anderson had not been offered an army commission so he journeyed to England at his own expense and enlisted in the Observers Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. He was granted a commission as a temporary sub-lieutenant in February 1916 and underwent extensive training in England.

After training, Anderson was transferred to the Royal Naval Air Service as observer sub-lieutenant in May 1917 and posted to No. 2 (Naval) Squadron at Dunkirk, France. For the next six months he was engaged in aerial photography, spotting for naval guns and patrol work. In November 1917 Anderson was injured in an air crash and was sent home to Canada on indefinite leave. After six months convalescence he was posted to Deseronto, Ont. as adjutant and served at this station with the rank of captain until the end of the war.

After the war Anderson had a long business career in the Winnipeg Grain Exchange representing Osborne and Lange Ltd. until his retirement in 1976. He died at Winnipeg in 1979.
