The Canadian Opera Company and its presentation of "Der Rosenkavalier" is the topic of this radio program hosted by fine arts editor Timothy Findley. An excerpt of the overture to the opera with music by Richard Strauss and lebretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal is followed by a brief history of this opera and interviews of Veeda Peene, chairperson of the Canadian Opera Guild; Ernest Adams, company tour manager; and Helen Vanni, who sings the lead role in the production. Topics discussed include reasons an opera production cannot be self-sustaining; problems with touring; and the difficulty of singing a Strauss score. <28mn>
