Sturdy, John Rhodes, b. 1911 : John Rhodes Sturdy, journalist, worked in Ottawa with the Montreal Gazette from 1929 to 1938 and then freelanced until 1940 when he joined the Royal Canadian Navy. In 1945 he began his work in Vancouver with the Public Relations department of the Canadian Pacific Railway. He was a freelance journalist again from 1949 to 1964.
