Murphy, Thomas Parnell, b. 1886 : Thomas Parnell Murphy, public servant, joined the Post Office Department, Montreal in 1903 to work as a stamper and sorter of mail. He became a Chief Clerk in 1919, and was promoted to Private Secretary to the Postmaster General, Ottawa, in 1921. In 1924, he was appointed Superintendent of Equipment and Supply, Ottawa, a position he retained, until his retirement in 1951.
