Fonds consists of correspondence exchanged by Phyllis Harrison with former child immigrants to Canada. Much of this correspondence became the basis for the Home Children (Winnipeg: 1979).

Harrison, Phyllis, 1918 - : Phyllis Harrison, social worker and author, was born in 1918 and received her early education in Brandon, Man. In 1951, she graduated with a degree in social work from McGill University and also studied journalism and writing in Mexico. Her career as a social worker has included two years in the Eastern Arctic, three and a half years as Director of International Social Services' Canadian Office, five years as Information Officer for the Children's Aid Society of Ottawa and five years as staff training co-ordinator for the Ministry of Human Resources, Government of British Columbia.

Her published works include articles in various journals, The Q-Book (Department of Northern Affairs and Natural Resources, 1963) which is a 'how to' book of articles for Inuit, Never Enough: A History of the Children's Aid Society of Ottawa (Ottawa: 1968) and the Home Children (Winnipeg: 1979). She is presently retired and living in Smithers, B.C.
