Fonds consists of scrapbooks, news clippings and pamphlets concerning a variety of activities and interests of William Gladish. These include newspaper clippings concerning cycling in the Toronto area, 1933-1934; development of the Canadian motion picture industry, 1947, 1955, 1962-1963; material concerning sports figure George Goulding, 1909-1910, 1946. The scrapbooks cover a wide variety of topics including the 4th National Indoor Track Championships held in Toronto in 1933, and newspaper columns written by William Gladish, 1957. Pamphlets relate to such activities as the Canadian Cycling Championships held in Ottawa in 1900, a history of the Dunlop Trophy Race, the Canadian Philatelic Society, 1949-1954, and the Tecumseh Lacrosse Club, 1910.

Fonds also contains photographs depicting the activities of the 109th (Cyclists) Battalion, C.E.F., Toronto, Ontario, 1914; activities of the Roamer Bicycle Club, Ottawa, Ontario, 1920-1922; a portrait of Robert Falconer, President of the Canadian Wheelman's Association, 1920's; and officers of the Canadian Philatelic Society, 1951-1952.

Gladish, William M., b. 1886 : William Gladish came to Ottawa in 1918 as sports editor of the Journal. He had been active in Toronto sports circles before World War I and had written numerous articles on sports, theatre and the military for the Toronto Daily News. He had served as secretary of the Canadian Wheelmen's Association (C.W.A.), 1908-1914, and later in Ottawa as C.W.A. District Chairman, he helped revive interest in cycling after the war. He became Canadian aviation editor of Macleans in 1934 and became Ontario Branch Secretary of the Amateur Athletic Union in 1937-1938. He was a night filing editor with the Canadian Press during World War II, 1940-1945, and joined the staff of the Ottawa Citizen in 1946.
