Fonds consists of correspondence received by Lindsay Crawford relating to the Statesman, including letters from Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Rodolphe Lemieux, Judge Latchford of the Supreme Court of Ontario, and an unsigned letter from W.L. Mackenzie King, original, 1918, 11 pages. The fonds also consists of circulars and newspaper clippings relating to: Ireland; the National Self-Determination League for Ireland of Canada and Newfoundland; and Lindsay Crawford, photocopy, 1916-1921, 62 pages.

Crawford, Lindsay : R. Lindsay Crawford, journalist and orator, was born in Ulster, and at one time was an active unionist but converted to support the Home Rule Movement in Ireland. He was editor of the Belfast Ulster Guardian before immigrating to Canada where he became, first, an editorial writer with the Toronto Globe, before and during W.W. I, and then, managing director of the Statesman, a weekly affiliated with the Liberal party and published in Toronto. Crawford was elected the first president of the National Self-Determination League for Ireland of Canada and Newfoundland, in 1920.
