Fonds consists of correspondence, reports and other material relating to the "Social Credit Study", a project to publish a series of books on the Social Credit movement, and the social and economic conditions which encouraged its development, co-ordinated by S.D. Clark between 1944 and 1959. The files relate to the following books which were published during the life of the project: W.L. Morton, The Progressive Party in Canada, 1950; D.C. Masters, The Winnipeg General Strike, 1950; Jean R. Burnet, Next Year Country, 1951; C.B. Macpherson, Democracy in Alberta; the Theory and Practice of a Quasi-Party System, 1953; J.R. Mallory, Social Credit and the Federal Power in Canada, 1954; H.B. Mayo, Democracy and Marxism, 1955; W.E. Mann, Sect and Cult in Alberta, 1955; V.C. Fowke, The National Policy and the Wheat Economy, 1957; J.A. Irving, The Social Credit Movement in Alberta, 1959; L.H. Thomas, The Liberal Party in Alberta, 1959.

Also included is a sound recording of a William Aberhart speech at a Social Credit gathering at the Calgary Exhibition grounds on the first anniversary of the Social Credit coming to power, 1936.

Clark, Samuel Delbert, 1910 - : Samuel Delbert Clark, sociologist and educator, was born in Lloydminster, Alta., and was educated at the London School of Economics and Political Science, 1932-1933, the University of Toronto, Ph.D. 1935, and McGill University Dr. Clark taught sociology at a number of Canadian universities, including the University of Manitoba and the University of Toronto, 1953-1976. He wrote widely on various aspects of Canadian social history. His publications include The Canadian Manufacturers Association, 1939; The Social Development of Canada, 1942; Church and Sect in Canada, 1959; The Developing Canadian Community, 1963, and The Suburban Society, 1966, Canadian Society for Historical Perspective, 1976 and The New Urban Poor, 1978.

He served as president of the Canadian Political Science Association, 1958-1959, and is Honorary President of the Canadian Association of Anthropology and Sociology.
