Fonds consists of textual records, n.d., 1926-1985, in the following series: personal correspondence and academic career information, Hebrew language instruction and Jewish education in Canada, Canadian Jewish Congress materials relating to various social issues affecting the Jewish community, Zionist movement in Canada material, Canadian Zionist Federation, World Zionist Congress-World Zionist Organization, World Labour Zionist movement, the Jewish Agency material, World Jewish Congress, publications from various sources.

Fonds also contains photographic positives and transparencies or slides, ca. 1950, 1971-1976, depicting the Hebrew Day School demonstration on behalf of Soviet Jewry, Montreal, Quebec, photograph by Drommond Photos, Montreal; two views of the Canadian Zionist Federation Information Booth at the Hadassah Bazaar, Vancouver, British Columbia; youth doing a hora, an Israeli folk-dance, possibly at Camp Masad in the Laurentians, Quebec; Leon Kronitz at at the 1984 Bernard and Neri Bloomfield Tribute Dinner sponsored by the the Canadian Friends of Bar-Ilan University. There are also two Kronitz family photographs, as well as 21 colour slides of a tour taken by Leon Kronitz of Israel in 1974.

Kronitz, Leon, 1917-1985 : Leon Kronitz, was a nationally prominent Jewish community leader and educator who lived in Montreal. He was born in Kletzk, Poland and emigrated to Canada with his family in 1938 settling in Montreal. He was educated at McGill University and the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York. Dr. Kronitz was the founding principal of the Herzliah High School, 1945-1948 and principal of the Solomon Schechter Academy of Montreal, 1955-1972. He was one of the five Jewish representatives appointed by the Quebec government Protestant School Board of Greater Montreal, 1955-1972. During this time he served as an officer of the Canadian Jewish Congress and was chairman of its executive committee.

A life-long Zionist, he was national executive director of Keren Hatarbut-The Hebrew Culture Organization of Canada, 1948-1955 and helped found Camp Massad of Canada, a Hebrew-speaking summer camp for children across Canada. Dr. Kronitz served as national president of the Labor Zionist Movement of Canada for three terms, 1963-1973. He established Viewpoints under its auspices and was chairman of the editorial board, 1965-1976. He was one of the founders of the Canadian Zionist Federation, the umbrella organization for Zionist Organizations in Canada. In in 1973, he became its executive vice-president, a position he held until his death. He headed the C.Z.F.'s Department of Education and Culture and was editor of its monthly magazine, The Canadian Zionist.

Dr. Kronitz was chairman of the cultural Commission of the World Jewish Congress and a member of its Board of Governors. He was a deputy member of the Actions Committee of the World Zionist Organization and was chairman of its Reorganization Commission in 1965-1966. He participated in many of the Jewish Agency assemblies in Jerusalem as well as World Jewish Congress plenaries.
