Fonds consists of textual records, n.d., 1905-1977, in the following series: personal papers consisting of manuscripts, notes, scripts newspaper articles, quotations, financial records, address lists and correspondence; social, cultural and co-operative organizations with which Jouppi was involved, miscellaneous papers; theatre scripts and rolebooks, catalogues of Finnish language play rental agencies and notes by Jouppi concerning Finnish Canadian Theatre; published material concerning Jouppi's various interests.

Fonds also contains a photograph, 1919, that depicts E.M. Jouppi in a vaudevillian role, Toronto, Ontario.

Jouppi, Einar Michael, 1893-1978 : Elinar(i) Michael Jouppi, union organizer, author, rose to prominence within the Finnish Canadian community largely through his many endeavours on behalf of the Finns in Northern and Central Ontario. Since his immigration to Canada from Finland in 1911, Jouppi served the growing Finnish community as an organizer of various clubs and co-operatives; as a writer of newspaper articles of cultural, social and polical comment in the American and Canadian Finnish-language press; as a poet and playwright; as an actor and director in the Finnish-Canadian theatre; and, finally, as a local historian and chronicler of the Finnish community's activities in Ontario.
