Single item is an illustrated typescript history of the Cumyn family entitled, The Sun ALways Shines. Although knowledge of the family extends to the eleventh century, primary emphasis is on the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries and in particular on the life and work of George Louis Cumine (sic) and his son, Philip A. Cumyn, the author. George Louis Cumine was a Scottish born engineer who worked in various countries, including Canada, the United States and Mexico, primarily in mining and railroad construction. Information is provided about other family members, McGill University, World War II, and the family seat Rattray House in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Cumyn, Philip A, 1904- : Philip A. Cumyn, investment banker, was born in Jalisco, Mexico, in 1904 where his father was an engineer. The following year the family moved to Canada. Mr. Cumyn studied pre-engineering at McGill before studying in England where he received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of London. He spent his professional career in investment banking, commencing with Wood Gundy in New York. In 1932, he moved to Montreal with the firm of Hanson Brothers and then the Royal Securities Corporation where he became a partner. During World War II he served in the Cabinet Office in Ottawa.
