The fonds consists of four typed letters. One entitled, "The Fruit of the Universe: A Reply to Professor Huxley", is an essay on evolution, science and biblical interpretation, 17 pages. The other three letters, addressed to the Duke of Argyll (2 p.), Lord Salisbury (2 p.), and Queen Victoria (1 p.), all pertain to the establishment of the "Kingdom of God" on Earth.

Monk, Henry Wentworth, 1827-1896 : Henry Wentworth Monk, a descendant of James Monk through his father John Benning Monk, was raised in the Ottawa Valley. As a young man, he studied for the Anglican priesthood and was educated at Christ's Hospital, London, but abandoned it to crusade for the restoration of Palestine to the Jews. He travelled extensively, and befriended such figures as Holman Hunt, the painter, and John Ruskin. Through Ruskin's efforts, Monk's major work, A SIMPLE INTERPRETATION OF THE REVELATION was published in 1858.

After failing to arouse interest in a Zionist world bank, he eventually returned to the Ottawa Valley, visiting M.P.'s and Senators to whom he preached world peace, and writing several articles pertaining to religious philosophy. Encyclopedia Canadiana, Vol. 7, p. 128.
