Pain, Frederick, 1885-1964 : Frederick Pain, an avid gardener, was very active in the Ottawa Horticultural Society. Between 1946 and 1950, he was a director of the Society and was its president from 1951 to 1952. From 1956 to 1958, he was district director of the Ontario Horticultural Association. Pain published yearbooks for the Ottawa Horticultural Society and besides his history of the Society, he wrote a history of Manotick, Ontario, and a book on African violets.
