Also included are photographs illustrating activities at the Winnipeg Grain Exchange; Minneapolis Farm Forum, 1955; Stanely Jones and others in Nepawa, Manitoba; 24th annual meeting of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, MacDonald Hotel, Edmonton, Alberta, 1953; 18th Congress [of] Chamber of Commerce of the British Empire, Montreal, Quebec, 1954; photos by Gowan V. Gibson, Winnipeg, David Bier Studios, Montreal, and Wells Studios, Edmonton.

The fonds also included souvenir postcards of the New Grain Exchange, Winnipeg, Manitoba, n.d. Individual titles include Grain Exchange, Winnipeg; Council Room; Board Room; Trading Room.

The fonds also contains original cartoons, by Arch Dale, of the Winnipeg Free Press concerning the Royal Grain Inquiry Commission (Turgeon Inquiry), 1936-1938.

Jones, Stanley Neville Kennedy, 1893-1981 : President Winnipeg Grain Exchange

Stanley N. Jones was born near Roland, Manitoba. He entered the grain trade with Saskatchewan Cooperative Elevator Company in 1912, joined N. Bawlf Grain Company in 1915 and became a member-representative on the Winnipeg Grain Exchange in 1916. After service in World War I, he went into business for himself as a cash grain broker in 1921 and originated the Exchange's spreadcard service , which he continued to operate until his retirement in 1979.

Jones was first elected to the Grain Exchange Council in 1933. In 1946 and 1947 he was elected president, became chairman in 1950, and from 1951-1961 served as the Exchange's first full-time president,. He conducted a vigorous public relations campaign in defence of the open-market system and in opposition to the encroachments of the Canadian Wheat Board, which had been given a monopoly of the marketing of wheat in 1943.
