Fonds consists of the following microfilmed material: a journal, April to December, 1894, describing Kay's voyage from Liverpool to Canada, and his trip across Canada from Halifax to British Columbia; a journal July [1895] to 30 March [1896], describing the trip to the gold fields; letters, 30 March, 1895 to May, 1900; and photographs, one of Thomas Kay and one of his tombstone. This material is located on microfilm reel A-1218.

Kay, Thomas, ca. 1867-1909 : Thomas Kay, immigrant and prospector, was born in Rochdale, England, about the year 1867. He immigrated to Canada in 1894, voyaged across Canada to British Columbia where he travelled, ranched, prospected and found employment in various capacities. He travelled to the Yukon in 1898. He died on 19 December, 1909, at 42 years of age.
