McIntee, Ralph E., 1908- : Born in Milltown, New Brunswick, Ralph McIntee, textile worker and labour leader, went to work at the local Canada Cotton Mill. In 1937, after an aborted attempt to organize the workers, he moved to Cornwall, Ontario, where he obtained employment at the Canada Cotton Stormont Mill. After the war he was instrumental in bringing the Textile Workers Union of America to Cornwall. McIntee became Business Agent for TWUA Local 806 and eventually the first president of the Greater Cornwall Textile Joint Board. In the late 1950's, Canada Cotton closed its three Cornwall Mills and McIntee obtained employment in the local post office. He continued his union activities, serving on the executive of the Cornwall local of the Canadian Postal Employees Union.
