Fonds consists of family material including diary, remembrance book, rent and mortgage ledgers and an engagement book for the Morrisburg Music Hall, 1884-1894.

Fonds also consists of a portrait of Helen Flagg merkley, Henry G. Merkley, and Norah Crysler, on a postcard.

Merkley, Henry G. (family) : Henry G. Merkley, born in 1812 was the son of Colonel George Merkley (1786-1866) and grandson of one of Morrisburg's original settlers, Major Henry Merkley, a United Empire Loyalist. The land occupied by H.G. Merkley was part of that land drawn by his grandfather Major H. Merkley. H.G. Merkley served as quartermaster of the Dundas Regiment in the Rebellion of 1837-1838. A strong Conservative he was an unsuccessful House of Commons candidate in 1874 for Dundas. For many years, he owned and managed a general lumber of milling business at Inkerman, afterwards establishing his factory at Morrisburg. He died in 1900 and was succeeded in business by his son Arthur R. Merkley.
