Fonds consists of a militia pay list of the officers, non-commissioned officers and men of No. 6 Company, 43rd Battalion who served as a guard of honour at Ottawa on the occasion of the funeral of the Rt. Hon. Sir John A. Macdonald, 10 June 1891. Photocopy, 3 pages.

Canada. Canadian Army. Ottawa and Carleton Battalion of Rifles, 43rd : The regiment was raised 15 October, 1866 as the 43rd Carleton Battalion at Ottawa, Ont. It was disbanded in 1875 but was reactivated 5 August 1881 as the 43rd Battalion of Infantry. It was redesignated 19 August 1881 as the 43rd Ottawa and Carleton Battalion of Rifles. The unit was successively redesignated the 43rd Regiment Ottawa and Carleton Rifles 8 May 1900, the 43rd Regiment (Duke of Cornwall's Own Rifles) 1 March 1902, The Ottawa Regiment (Duke of Cornwall's Own) 15 March 1920.

The regiment was authorized as a Highland unit 15 September, 1922 with the designation The Ottawa Highlanders and became The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa, 10 August 1933.
