Clifford Sifton, dated 15 July 1899.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:West, Christopher Harfield, 1860-1935 : Christopher Harfield West immigrated to Canada after graduating from Guy's Hospital in London. He joined the North West Mounted Police in 1888 and served as physician in hospitals in the Regina District until 1899. From 1899 until 1900 he was a surgeon with the Indian Department. He subsequently took up his police duties again, first as an inspector, then as superintendent, in the Lesser Slave Lake, Lethbridge, Battleford and Prince Albert districts.
