Fonds consists of letters to John MacLeod, received 1825-1837, from friends and associates in the Hudson's Bay Company service; journal of a trip from Kamloops to Edmonton in the form of notebook jottings, with notes by Malcolm McLeod, 1826; report on occurrences at Kamloops, 1822-1823; report from Norway House, 1829; an abridgement of Company minutes, 1825, and Company circulars for chief traders and chief factors, 1826.

MacLeod, John, 1788-1849 : John MacLeod joined the Hudson's Bay Company service in 1811. He was at Red River in 1814 and in 1821 achieved the rank of chief trader. He spent the years between 1822 and 1826 in the Columbia District, and later years at Chicoutimi and St. Maurice. His son, Malcolm McLeod, edited "Archibald MacDonald's Peace River," (Ottawa, 1872).
