The fonds consists of transcripts of the official records of the Baptist Church of Liverpool, Nova Scotia, later known after the division of the congregation in 1851, as the First Baptist Church of Liverpool, and then, from 1853, as the Milton Baptist Church of Queens County. The records contain accounts of meetings and decisions; baptisms; membership list, 1829; and a copy of the "Rules of the Nova Scotia Baptist Association adopted at Granville, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, June 20th 1800."

Milton Baptist Church of Queen's County (Milton, N.S.) : The Milton Baptist Church of Queen's County, Nova Scotia, originated in a missionary visit of the Reverend David Nutter (d. 1873), to Liverpool Township, Nova Scotia, in the spring of 1821. His preaching led to the baptism of 42 persons and the decision to form a church. On 23 April 1821 the congregation met in the house of Isaac Dexter and formally adopted the articles and covenant of the Nova Scotia Baptist Association recommended by Nutter and the church was established with an initial membership of twenty-five.

Lack of leadership led to its virtual extinction within a few years, but it was reorganized in 1828 by the Reverend Thomas Ansley (1769-1831), and was received into the Association in 1829. In 1832 it was placed under the pastoral care of the Reverend Anthony V. Dimock. By 1850 the existence of two geographically distinct sections in the congregation led to the decision to divide into two churches.

This division was made on 5 April 1851. The congregation resident at Milton adopted the name of the First Liverpool Church and the congregation from the town of Liverpool, Sandy Cove and Herring Cove formed the Second Liverpool Church. On 28 May 1853, the First Liverpool Church changed its name to the Milton Baptist Church of Queen's County.
