Braddock, Edward, 1695?-1755 : Edward Braddock, military officer, served in the British Army with distinction, achieving the rank of major-general. Appointed commander-in-chief of British Forces in North America in 1754, he took command of the forces marching on Fort Duquesne, and died of wounds received at the battle of the Monongahela in July, 1755.
