The fonds consists of copies of documents and of research correspondence and notes relating to the McLaurin family of Lochiel Township, Glengarry County, Ont., including a deed for the grant of 100 acres in Lochiel Township to Peter McLaren, 1827; part of the marriage register of the Baptist Church at Breadalbane, Lochiel Township, n.d., 1858-1886; notes on the deaths of members of [the same] congregation, with ages at death from the handbook of Peter Stewart, who was one of the 1815 immigrants, 1857-1883; and Breadalbane cemetery recording made by Ann MacLaurin and Eleanor Forbes, 1970.

McLaurin (family) : The McLaurin (McLaurin, McLaren) family of Lochiel Township, Glengarry County, Ont., is descended from a number a highland Scottish settlers who came to Upper Canada in the early nineteenth century. The most notable of these immigrants were a group from the Loch Tay District of Perthshire, who sailed from Greenock in June 1815 on the Dorothy, bound for Montreal.
