Fonds consists of eleven volumes of studio register books containing names and addresses of clients, charges levied for sittings, and a small number of clippings.

Fonds also contains numerous photographs including portraits of prominent and other Ottawa citizens, national and local politicians, public servants, business men and women, and wedding photographs. Portraits by Paul Horsdal include; E.R. Fisher, Nicole Presentey, Mr. Justice R. Kerr, Robert Donnell, Gilles Frappier, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rochester, Robin Leckie, Bill Rider-Rider, Bert Lawrence, Richard Hatfield, J. R. Beattie, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Morrison, Lorry Greenberg, Valdemar (Valdy) Horsdal, Mrs. Reg Hale, Penny Werthner, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rasminsky, Judge David Henry, John Fraser, Pat Playfair, Lady Borden, Hon. Hugh Guthrie, J.L. Ilsley, Hon. W.L. MacKenzie King, Major-General A.G.L. McNaughton, Rt. Hon. Sir George H. Perley and Lady Perley, Lady Henrietta Pope, Pierre F. Casgrain, Hon. C.A. Dunning, Grey Owl and his wife Mrs. McNeil, Barbara Ann Scott, the Southam family, the Toller family, Stanley Lewis, Hon. John A. Macdonald, J.G. Diefenbaker and many more portraits of M.P.'s and other government officials.

Additionally, there are group portraits including, but not limited to, the following; Bank of Canada Group of Messengers, Gloucester Street Convent Group, Glebe Collegiate Teams and Organizations, Lisgar Collegiate Teams and Organizations, various other schools groups, May Court Group, Minto Skating Club, 2nd Mounted Brigade, and the Ottawa Curling Club.

Fonds also contains photographic views including the opening of Parliament, general views of the Parliament Buildings, Horsdal studio exterior and interior views, the Jubilee Celebration on Parliament Hill, and Remembrance Day on Parliament Hill.

Paul Horsdal Ltd : Paul Horsdal operated a photographic studio in downtown Ottawa from October 1926 until 1973. His clients included many political figures, members of the judiciary and public service and other prominent Ottawa residents. Mr. Horsdal entered a partnership with Mr. Charlie Chew in 1973 and sold the studio to Mr. Chew the following year.
