Fonds consists of miscellaneous papers, 1829-1856, preserved by F.A. LaRocque after his retirement. Included are correspondence and accounts, 1829-1844, 28 pages; a journal, 1855-1856, 45 pages; and papers relating to the building of schools and missionary work at Fort Vancouver, 1841-1844.

LaRocque, François-Antoine, 1782-1869 : François-Antoine LaRocque served with the XY Company, 1801-1804, and with the Nort West Company until his retirement in 1815. He spent a number of years as a merchant at Montreal, but was not fortunate in his business ventures. His account of a journey from Fort Assiniboine to the Mandan country on the Upper Missouri River was published as the JOURNAL OF LAROCQUE FROM THE ASSINIBOINE TO THE YELLOWSTONE, 1805 (Ottawa, 1910).
