Disjointed sequences from Douglas Wilkinson's arctic films. Wilkinson, in Inuit dress, ties the hind flippers of a baby seal, submerges the seal as bait for an adult, and harpoons one. With the help of an Inuit companion, Idlouk, he lands the adult. At Pond Inlet, Inuit adults and children play games, supervised by Don Whitbred; Inuit girls are seen in traditional dress; the Inuit dance to Whitbred's accordian music; dog sled races are run. Scenes at Fort Churchill, Manitoba include snowdrifts against a winter landscape; two DC-3s parked near a hangar; a landing strip being plowed; and man's legs passing the camera. In a summer sequence an Inuk peers out of his tent and meets two others. Another runs for his harpoon upon spoting whales. The whales swim and young men rush for their kayaks, then chase the whales while preparing their harpoons. Next is an edited sequence of impressionistic landscape photography including snow crystals, frozen reaches, and the midnight sun. The two remaining sequences are part of the NFB film ANGOTEE. In the first Idlouk hunts seqal on the ice using a camouflage screen and rifle and he and his son, Angotee, load a seal onto their sled. The second includes scenes of Inuit family life, and igloo interior, and a baby being born. <19mn>
