Giraud (family) : Daniel Giraud was born in France in 1665 and came to New Rochelle, New York, with other Huguenots in 1688. In 1701 he was the assessor of the village of New Rochelle.

Daniel Giraud's grandson, Captain Isaac Gerow, was killed in action and his wife Charity and their three sons - Isaac, Benjamin and Henry - immigrated to New Brunswick as United Empire Loyalists in 1783. They later moved to Upper Canada and settled in Prince Edward County at what was later called Gerow's Gore.
