Fonds consists of the following documents;
-Two letters written by Leverett reporting on the expedition of Major Robert Sedgewick, which resulted in the capture of the French forts in Acadia, photocopy, 1654, 4 pages;
-Warrants and receipts for payments to Captain John Leverett and Major Robert Sedgewick for the expenses of the expedition against Acadia, typescript, 1654-1658, 8 pages;
-Order signed by Oliver Cromwell directing Leverett to surrender the forts of St. John, Port Royal and Pentagouet in Acadia, to Colonel Thomas Temple, original, 1656, 1 page.

Leverett, John, 1616-1679 : John Leverett, military officer, emigrated about 1633 from England to America, where he gained distinction as a military commander. He served for a time after 1655 as agent for Massachusetts in London, and on his return to America, held several civil and military offices.
