Ready, John, ca. 1777-1845 : John Ready, a career officer in the British Army, was Secretary to the Duke of Richmond in Ireland and Canada. After Richmond's death in 1819, Ready became Civil Secretary of Lower Canada, and a member of the Executive Council in 1820. From 1824 to 1831, he was Lieutenant-Governor of Prince Edward Island, and from 1832 to his death, Governor of the Isle of Man.
