Canada Ethnic Press Federation : The Canada Ethnic Press Federation (C.E.P.F.) was organized in March, 1958, by representatives of the Canada Press Club and the Ethnic Press Association of Ontario. The Canada Press Club was established in 1942 by editors and publishers of ethnic newspapers in Winnipeg, to enable them to better co-ordinate their efforts to forward Canada's war effort and to integrate ethnic groups into Canadian life. With the growth of ethnic publications in Toronto after World War II, editors of that city, with the encouragement of the Winnipeg organization in 1951, organized the Ethnic Press Association of Ontario. The Canada Ethnic Press Federation was organized to co-ordinate the activities and serve as a national spokesperson of ethnic press clubs in Eastern and Western Canada.

The establishment of the C.E.P.F. stimulated the creation of further branch organizations. This included the Ethnic Press Association of British Columbia and the Quebec Ethnic Press Association. The Quebec organization was formed by editors and publishers of ethnic publications in Montreal and that of British Columbia, by editors and publishers of ethnic publications in Vancouver, while attending the Canada Press Federation meeting in Winnipeg in 1962.

As a spokesperson for the ethnic press, the Canada Ethnic Press Federation strives to interpret and spell out the needs of Canada's ethnic groups to the Canadian government and to Canada's two dominant cultural groups. It co-ordinates the efforts of editors and owners of ethnic publications, to integrate the groups they serve into Canadian society. In pursuit of these objectives, it has presented briefs to the Canadian government on constitutional questions, government immigration policy, bilingualism and the mass media in Canada. It sponsored a tour of Quebec by ethnic editors and a tour of ethnic communities across Canada by French-speaking journalists, thereby serving to promote greater awareness among different cultural groups in this country of the problems faced by them.
