Drummond, Daniel, d. 1859 : Daniel Drummond and his older brother, John Drummond (d. 1868) left the family farm at Trian near Comrie in Scotland in 1833, and came to Canada. They settled in Petite Côte (now Rosemount) near Montreal and became successful dairy farmers. In addition to his farm, Daniel owned a flour mill at New Glasgow, some thirty miles north of Montreal. John never married, but Daniel's wife, Margaret McDougall, (d. 1864), and family accompanied him from Scotland.

Margaret's brother, Alexander McDougall, (d. 1870), also spent some years in Canada; he had an interest in a woollen mill in Napanee, Ont.
