Fonds consists of a letter from J. Window to E.W.R. Antrobus offering condolences on the death of his uncle, and discussing personal activities, dated 9 March 1818; diary of Edmund W.R. Antrobus describing the social activities of Antrobus, his wife and their six children such as who they visited, where they travelled, who he dined with, observations on the weather and family illnesses and outings, dated 1 January 1842 to 10 June 1852; and excerpts from the diary of Colonel Edmund Antrobus, A.D.C. to Lord Elgin, transcript, dated 2 October 1851-29 November 1851.

Antrobus, Edmund William Romer, 1795-1852 : Edmund William Romer Antrobus was the son of John Antrobus, a merchant and later Grand Voyer for the District of Trois-Rivières. Edmund W.R. Antrobus received his militia commission as Ensign in 1812, and as Lieutenant in 1813. In 1822, he was appointed a Justice of the Peace in the District of Trois-Rivières, and in 1826, he became Grand Voyer for the District of Quebec. He was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel and Commander of the militia at Sorel in 1846, and also served as A.D.C. to Lord Elgin.

The letter from J. Window to E.W.R. Antrobus, 9 March 1818, was received in 1980 from Mr. W.G. Antrobus of Downsview, Ont.
The excerpts from the diary of Colonel Edmund Antrobus, 1851, were transferred in 1961 from the A. Robertson collection, MG 24 D 47.
