Collection consists of deposition of Gabriel Christie, 1766, concerning the feasibility of winter travel across Lake Champlain, 1766; and a letter from David Simpson, clerk to Joshua Sharpe of Lincoln's Inn, 4 pages, enclosing indentures of lease and release from Francis Rybot in favor of G. Christie, 2 pages and reporting upon the document, 1776.

Christie, Gabriel, 1722-1799 : Gabriel Christie, a career soldier, rose to the rank of major-general in the British Army. In 1763 he settled in Quebec and acquired the seigniories of Bleury, Sabrevois, Noyan and Lacolle of the Upper Richelieu River.

General note:

Deposition, 1766, was transferred from the Miscellaneous Documents collection, 27/19.
Indenture of lease and release from Francis Rybot in favour of G. Christie, dated 1776 and a contract between Francis Rybol and Lietenant Colonel Gabriel Christie regarding property in Montreal, 1776, are housed in horizontal storage, containers 2 and 3 respectively.
