Fonds consists of correspondence and related papers of Henry Bird, only part of which relate to his career in America. Included are papers of his sister and his daughter. Of note are a sketch of his land at Amherstburg, ca. 1796, and instructions for the engineers at Oswegatchie, 1777.

Bird, Henry, flourished 1760-1798 : Henry Bird (fl. 1760-1798) was commissioned a lieutenant in the 8th Regiment of Foot in 1768 and served with that unit in British North America until 1784, when it was reduced and he was placed on the half-pay. Some years later he returned to England, living in Sussex, and died in the expedition to Egypt. While with the regiment, he served in the Detroit region, and in 1782 was promoted to captain.
