Ewing, James, 1736-1896 : James Ewing, a native of Pennsylvania, served in the Army during the French and Indian wars. He sat as a member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly, 1771-1775, and in 1776, was appointed Brigadier General in command of the Pennsylvania militia. He later served as Vice President of the State, 1782-1784, member of the State Assembly, and of the Senate.
