Trollope, Henry, fl. 1829-1849 : Lieutenant Henry Trollope entered the Navy 7 August, 1828 and passed his examinations 27 August, 1834. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on November 23, 1841. At the time of his promotion, he was serving at Chatham (England) as mate on board the ARDENT steamer, under the direction of Captain John Russell.

Lieutenant Trollope was appointed on 3 December, 1841 to the ALFRED 50, directed by Captain John Brett Purvis, fitting for the coast of Brazil, and on 21 May, 1843, was appointed to the Isis 44, under the direction of Captain Sir John Marshall, stationed at the Cape of Good Hope. He returned from this station in the early years of 1845. The following year, 1846, he was appointed to the HERALD 22, Captain Henry Kellett, heading for the Pacific, where he continued to be stationed until 1849. Lieutenant Trollope was the commander of HMS Rattlesnake.
