Collection consists of the papers of John McGillivray and his sons, Neil John and George, as well as some papers of the McLean family and its connections. Included are the papers of the Rev. John Mackenzie, the first moderator of the Synod of the Presbyterian Church, in connection with the Church of Scotland. John McGillivray preserved many of the records of the Highland Society, 1818-1857, while George kept those of the Glengarry Agricultural Society, 1843-1896, as well as the records of Charlottenburg Township and some Court records, volumes 1-5.

McGillivray, John, ca. 1777-1855 (family) : John McGillivray, (ca. 1777-1855), a fur trader and speculator, had two sons Neil John and George, a clerk.

The Rev. John Mackenzie (1790-1855) was the first moderator of the Synod of the Presbyterian Church.

Neil McLean (1757-1832) was a magistrate.
