Fonds consists of a journal kept by David Noble in 1843, and most likely by Eliah Risden in 1844-1845, with daily entries noting work done and money spent, in connection with the transportation and operation of a dredge and scows on the Beauharnois Canal. The remainder of the volume was used to copy out poetry, n.d.

Noble, David, fl. 1843 : David Noble, contractor, was hired on 22 May 1843, by the Board of Works of the Province of Canada to bring a dredging machine built in New York State to Kingston and thence to the Beauharnois Canal. There Noble supervised the putting down of cribs at the upper entrance to the canal.
