The fonds also contains photographs of annual conventions of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations, 1936-1959.Biography/Administrative history:Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations : The Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations (C.F.M.T.A.) was founded at a conference of provincial music teachers' associations from the west in 1935. Associations from the eastern provinces joined between the years 1942 and 1954. It was incorporated in 1939, its purpose the advancement of music knowledge and the teaching profession and the interchange of ideas among Canadian music teachers. The C.F.M.T.A. also promoted the development of provincial music teachers' associations. It began its Young Artists Series in 1942 to provide an opportunity for young students to perform publicly and since 1960 it has sponsored an annual Canada Music Week.
