Fonds consists of minutes, constitutions and bylaws, reports, financial statements and newspaper clippings of the Lachine Rowing Club and the Canadian Association of Amateur Oarsmen, 1873-1950; programmes of the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta and other regattas, 1940-1972; correspondence, booklets, articles and newspaper clippings concerning Canadian rowing history and Canada's participation in the Olympic Games, 1880-1970; Canadian Association of Amateur Oarsmen Directory, March 1973, volumes 1-4. Records of the Canadian Rowing Coaches Association, 1971, 1972 and the Coaches Technical Committee, 1972-1973, volume 5. The fonds also contains one photograph of Fred Weatherhead, Boatmaster, at the Lachine Rowing Club, Lachine, Que.

Canadian Association of Amateur Oarsmen : The Canadian Association of Amateur Oarsmen (C.A.A.O.) was founded in 1880, largely through the efforts of the Argonaut Rowing Club of Toronto. Annual regattas were held at various points until 1903, when a permanent course was laid out on a section of the old Welland Canal. The regatta held there is now known as the Royal Canadian Henley and is one of the largest in the world. Among the member clubs of the C.A.A.O., the Lachine Rowing Club, founded in 1863, is one of the oldest active clubs in North America.
