Fonds consists of papers which are organized according to the name of the federation at the time the record was created. The records are organized into the following series: Canadian Sports Advisory Council, 1949-1963, 41 cm; Canadian Amateur Sports Federation, 1963-1972, 1.19 m; and the Sports Federation of Canada, 1972-1981, 5 cm.

Sports Federation of Canada : The Canadian Sports Advisory Council was formed in 1951. The objectives of the Council were: to provide an annual forum for the exchange of the views of representatives of all amateur sports governing bodies; to promote interest and participation in amateur sport; and to bring before the government recommendations concerning the interests of amateur sport. In 1963, the name was changed to the Canadian Amateur Sports Federation so as to avoid confusion with the government's newly formed National Advisory Council on Sport and Physical Fitness. In 1972, the Canada Amateur Sports Federation took the name Sports Federation of Canada.
