Collection consists of microfilmed business letters to John Bogart, and Ford and Bogart, attorneys-at-law, Brockville, from, and on behalf of, Bidwell's law firm, concerning correspondence to 1835. Personal letters from Bidwell to his friend Henry Cassady, 1834-1840, and from Clara Bidwell to May Eliza Cassady, 1840-1847, relating to the Bidwell's life in the United States, the Rebellion of 1837, Sir Francis Bond Head, Sir George Arthur and Lord Durham; also copies of Bidwell's letters to Head, 1834-1840. This material is located on microfilm reel M-783.

Bidwell, Marshall S. (Marshall Spring), 1799-1872 : Marshall Spring Bidwell, lawyer and politician, was a moderate voice in the Reform Party of Upper Canada. After the Rebellion of 1837, he left Canada for the United States, where he engaged in a successful legal practice.
