Wolcott, Oliver, 1726-1797 : Oliver Wolcott, soldier of the Revoluntionary War, was born in 1726 in Windsor, Connecticut. After graduating from Yale in 1747, Wolcott was commissioned a captain by the governor of New York, served in the French and Indian War, and then promoted to major general. At the end of the war, Wolcott returned to Litchfield Connecticut, where he practiced law, and was elected to the State Council. In 1775-78 and 1780-1784, Wolcott was chosen as a delegate to the Continental Congress, but was frequently absent due to military duty as major general in charge of Connecticut's militia. He signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Wolcott led numerous Connecticut regiments to the defense of New York in 1776, reinforced General Putnam's forces on the Hudson River in 1777, and joined General Horatio Gates in defeating General Burgoyne at Saratoga of that same year. After the defeat of Burgoyne, Wolcott returned to Congress until July 1778. For ten years, 1786-96, he served as lieutenant governor of Connecticut, and as governor between 1796-1797. In 1797, Wolcott died at the age of 72. 1467

Clinton, George, 1739-1812 : George Clinton was a native of New York and an officer before becoming governor of that state, 1777-1795 and 1801-1804. He later served as vice-president of the United States, 1805-1812.
