Fonds consists of a copy of "Lieutenant James Moody's Narrative of his exertions and sufferings in the cause of Government since the year 1776", as printed by Richardson & Urquhart, of London, in 1783. The Narrative is written by Moody in the third person, and was intended to help him procure a stipend from the King after the war ended. Also included are an appendix of certificates supporting his narrative, 1782-1783, and a letter from Edward, Duke of York, 1801, also in support of his claims. The material is 100 pages of transcripts.

Moody, James, 1744-1809 : James Moody was a native of New Jersey who attempted to remain neutral during the War of Independence but was driven from his farm. He led a party of friends to the British lines and was subsequently employed in intelligence work.
