Fonds consists of correspondence of General Thomas Dyneley written while serving in Europe, 1806-1815, 1 reel; and letters written to Colonel Henry Dyneley by his mother May, his father Thomas, and his sister Amelia while he was stationed in India, 1847-1852, 1 reel. This material is located on microfilm reels A-1178 and A-1179.

Dyneley, Thomas, 1782-1860 : Thomas Dyneley entered the Royal Artillery as a 2nd lieutenant in December 1801. From 1805-1815 he served in Europe, and in 1811 he embarked with "E" troop, R.H.A., as a 2nd captain. From 1825-1834 he commanded "E" troop, and was subsequently in command of the Royal Artillery in Canada, 1847-1852. In 1841, Thomas Dyneley was made aide-de-camp to the Queen, and in 1854 he was promoted to the rank of major-general.
