Fonds consists of a diary of Captain Thomas J. Reeve containing brief notations of military duties performed, social engagements, family birthdays and other similar subjects. Little detail is provided on musical or theatrical events, winter sports (curling, snow-shoeing and sleigh races), card games (whist) or the weather. Some 100 pages are occupied by Lett's almanac and advertisements; the diary entries fill some 112 pages and the remainder are devoted to Reeve's personal accounts including salary, club fees, subscriptions, and personal debts.

Reeve, Thomas John, b. 1821 : Thomas John Reeve was stationed with the 79th Regiment of Foot, the Cameron Highlanders, at Quebec from July 1848 until August 1851. Following the regiment's return to Great Britain, he returned to civilian life, after some twelve years in the army.
