Fonds consists of microfilmed records of the Rhodes Scholarship Trust consisting of the papers of Sir George Robert Parkin, Commissioner of the Rhodes Scholarships, 1903-1922, and concerning scholarships granted in Canada, the United States, South Africa, Rhodesia, Australia, New Zealand, Bermuda, Jamaica, the West Indies, and Germany, 1902-1959. There are also records of the financial operation of the Trust, and some papers relating to the Estate of Sir George Parkin, 1922-1947. This material is located on microfilm reels A-620 to A-622, A-727 to A-734, A-781 to A-807.

Rhodes Scholarship Trust : The Rhodes Scholarship Trust was established through an endowment by Cecil J. Rhodes, a British colonial pioneer and statesman, who wished to provide future leaders of the English speaking world with an education at his Alma Mater - Oxford University. In his will, he named nine beneficary countries and since 1904 other countries have been added. Rhodes Scholars are appointed for two years of study. All educational costs and certain other fees are paid on the scholars behalf by the Rhodes Trustees. Rhodes hoped that his efforts would improve mankind and relations between nations.
