Fonds consists of material relating to the Canadian Amateur Football Association. The fonds traces the development of amateur football in Canada, 1949-1982. Junior and senior youth levels of football are documented through various sports organizations. These organizations include: the Canadian Rugby Union, the North Eastern Ontario Amateur Football Association, the South Western Ontario Amateur Football Association, the Canadian Football League, the Administrative Centre for Sport and Recreation, the Canadian Football Officials Association, and the Canadian Touch Football Association. The fonds also documents the Canadian Amateur Football Association's role in the planning of "Minor Football Week", football clinics, playoffs and other events which involved sports organizations from the Maritimes, Western Canada, Quebec and Ontario, and the Association's role as the central co-ordinating/administrative body for amateur football in Canada.

Canadian Amateur Football Association : The Ontario Rugby Football Union (O.R.F.U.) and the Quebec Rugby Football Association (Q.R.F.A.) were established in 1882 to govern football in Ontario and Quebec. In 1892, they became affiliated with the C.R.U. and it came to govern football in Canada. In 1966, the name of the C.R.U. was changed to the Canadian Amateur Football Association (C.F.A.) and the constitution was rewritten. Representation in the association was now on a provincial basis rather than on a union basis. The Canadian Amateur Football Association officially came into being in January 1967.
